Secondary School (Y7)

Key Stage 3: Nurturing the transition from primary to secondary
As learners at Al Maharat Private School transition from Year 6 to Year 7, we seek to make this journey as smooth and supportive as possible. The Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed to build on the knowledge and skills they will have developed in the primary years while introducing them to more specialised learning.

Learners are given opportunities to further their understanding of each subject through interactive activities and engaging lessons taught by highly qualified specialist teachers.

Personalised Learning:
At Al Maharat Private School, we take a personalised approach to learning that encourages our learners to go beyond age-related expectations and develop their understanding of each subject. Our teachers use engaging activities and interactive lessons to stimulate learning and ensure learners are progressively developing in an individualised manner.

We enable them to think independently, use their initiative, and take ownership of their learning journey. Through continuous progress monitoring, we are able to identify areas of strength and weaknesses so we can provide extra help or challenge as needed.

Parental Engagement

We understand the importance of parental engagement and the positive impact it can have on a child’s academic progress. We value parent-teacher relationships and encourage parents to stay involved with their child’s learning journey. We strive to facilitate effective communication between home and school through weekly newsletters, parent-teacher meetings, and an open-door policy.

We also provide one-to-one support to learners, where parents can engage with teachers to discuss their child’s progress and ask any questions they may have. Our goal is to ensure that our learners reach their full potential with the support of both home and school.

Educational Technology

We are committed to creating an environment in which our learners have the opportunity to develop their digital literacy skills and become 21st-century learners.

Our curriculum includes Educational Technology, where learners explore a range of apps and tools that can be used for research, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and more. Our teachers use engaging activities and interactive lessons to help students understand the concepts of digital literacy, and how to apply them in real-world settings.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

"Dream, believe, and achieve" is the mantra at Al Maharat Private School. Our Entrepreneurship and Innovation curriculum allows learners to explore how to set up business models, develop ideas, research futuristic technology, and collaborate with key players in Abu Dhabi's Esports and Creative Media industry.

We provide our learners with the opportunity to extend their knowledge beyond traditional subjects by learning about innovation and creative techniques used to develop new products. This learning experience encourages our learners to think outside of the box, take risks, solve problems, and build creative solutions that can bring about positive change.

Leadership Opportunities

Leadership Opportunities are a major focus of Al Maharat Private School's Key Stage 3 curriculum. We believe that learning how to lead, both in the classroom and beyond, is an invaluable life experience for our learners. Through activities such as student councils, peer mentorship programs, and public speaking opportunities, we are able to foster strong leadership skills and encourage positive traits like empathy, altruism, and resilience.

In addition to developing strong leadership skills, our learners are given the opportunity to take on more responsibility in order to leave a meaningful legacy behind them. They are given the freedom to work collaboratively on projects that bring about positive change in their school and community. Through these experiences, students learn how to use their knowledge and skills to make a real difference in the world around them.
