Admission Eligibility

Al Maharat Private School is a co-educational private school, managed by GEMS Education. We provide an exceptional learning environment for our learners aged 4 to 11 years old, through the Early Years Framework Scheme and National Curriculum of England. Our primary language of instruction is English.

In the future, we plan on expanding our curriculum offering to include the Key Stage 3 programme of study from the National Curriculum of England, as well as the Key Stage 4 GCSE Programme and Key Stage 5 AS Level and A Level examinations. Our commitment is to ensure that our learners are equipped with a top-notch education that they can use to achieve their goals in life.

Class Size and Adult-to-Learner Ratio

At our school, class sizes and adult-to-learner ratios are carefully managed to ensure that learners have the best quality of education. The maximum class sizes and adult-to-learner ratio for each year group are as follows but may be subject to change depending on enrollment levels:

● FS2 — 25 learners, one teacher, one teaching assistant
● Year 1- Year 2 —25 learners, one teacher, one teaching assistant
● Year 3- Year 7 —30 learners, one teacher
The school reserves the right to adjust these ratios as and when necessary in order to provide the most beneficial learning environment for our pupils. Any changes will of course be communicated to parents and staff in advance.

Arabic Language Requirements

In line with the regulations issued by the SAE Ministry of Education, all learners from Year 2 to Year 6 are expected to receive instruction in Arabic. Our programmes cover the full scope of the Ministry of Education syllabus while providing tailored classes for native and non-native speakers alike. Additionally, we understand the importance of an early start to learning Arabic and thus our Arabic instruction begins in Year 1.

Furthermore, learners who are registered with a passport from one of the listed Arab countries are required to attend Arabic A classes as per law. Should they not be fluent in the language and are from an identified Arabic nation, they may be allowed to take Arabic B with the approval of ADEK.

UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Syria, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Oman, Mauritania, Libya, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, and Union of Comoros.

Islamic Education Requirement

Learners who identify as Muslim - as indicated on their passport or during the admissions process - are obliged to take Islamic Education in accordance with regulations outlined by the Ministry of Education. The course is mandatory from Year Two onwards and available in both Arabic (Islamic A) and English (Islamic B), contingent upon the student's proficiency in Arabic language. Both courses adhere to the curriculum set out by the Ministry of Education, incorporating syllabus and modules relating to Islamic Education.

This ensures all learners have access to relevant religious knowledge and education which will enable them to acquire a comprehensive understanding of their faith.
